The PLR-16 is a gas operated, semi-automatic pistol chambered in 5.56 mm NATO caliber. It is intended to be the ideal silhouette shooting and hunting pistol. The rifling is 1 turn in 9 inches, right hand twist. The PLR-16 has a conventional, long-stroke gas-piston operation and utilizes the proven Johnson/Stoner breech locking system. The rear sight is adjustable for windage. The front sight is similar to an AR-15 style rifle, and adjustable for elevation. An integrated MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail will accept a multitude of standard accessories. The muzzle is threaded 1/2-28 TPI to accept standard attachments such as a muzzle brake or flash hider. Except for the barrel, bolt, sights, and mechanism, the PLR-16 pistol is made entirely of high-impact glass fiber reinforced polymer.
The accessories available for the PLR-16 include forend with Picatinny rail on the bottom, scope rings, dynamic deflecting operating handle, single point sling, and a muzzle brake specifically design for the 9.2" barrel of the PLR-16.

Outstanding for the money
I run a small training school and recommend this to students who want a serious starter piece without spending custom-shop money. The Semi-Auto mechanism is forgiving, the sights are intuitive, and parts availability is excellent.
Good gun, mediocre case
The firearm itself is exactly what I wanted in a 223 Remington/5.56 NATO. Trigger is crisp, accuracy is fine, recoil is manageable. The lockable hard case it ships in feels like an afterthought though - I'd budget for a real storage solution.
BlackForge nailed the shipping too
Order placed Monday, in my hands Wednesday morning, double-boxed with the manufacturer packaging intact. Took it straight to the range - ran like a sewing machine through 200 rounds with no break-in needed. this brand quality is real.
Range gun only
Wouldn't carry this - too many small things that don't feel quite right under stress. Mag release is mushy, sights aren't quick to pick up, the 9.2" barrel feels unbalanced. Fine for plinking on a Saturday.
Need more time with it
First 300 rounds were rough. It's settling in now but the jury is still out. Updating to four stars later if it keeps improving, dropping to two if those early issues come back. Cautiously hopeful.
