The Marlin 336 boasts a 19.10" barrel; a polished stainless finish and Fiber optic front sight with a tritium ring for improved visibility in low light conditions. Other features threaded barrel, with factory-installed thread protector, has a 5/8"-24 pattern; 5rd tubular magazine with a loading gate located on the receiver; soft-rubber buttpad; positive, push-button, cross-bolt manual safety and traditional half-cock hammer; laminate buttstock and forend; sharp checkering provides an excellent grip in all weather conditions; oversized lever loop; slim forend for an attractive look and comfortable feel. Includes sling swivel studs and offset hammer spur.

Decent for a beginner
If this is your first 30-30 Winchester you'll probably be happy. If you've shot anything in the next tier up you'll feel the difference. Glad I have it for loaner duty at the range with new shooters - not what I reach for personally.
Trigger took 300 rounds to come alive
Out of the box the trigger had a slight grit through the take-up. Three hundred rounds in and it's smoothed out into something genuinely pleasant. Patience pays off - would be 5 stars if it shipped at this state.
