The Ruger Mark IV 22/45 features a one-button takedown; precision-molded polymer grip frame with a serrated front strap and checkered backstrap; threaded barrel with thread protector; checkered, 1911-style grip panels; contoured ejection port and easy-to-grasp bolt ears; Picatinny rail; ambidextrous manual safety can be converted to left-side only with included washer; push-button magazine release on the left side of the frame; magazine drops free on release for convenient reloading and magazine disconnect prevents discharge when the magazine has been removed. Three months in and still grinning
Carried it daily since September. No malfunctions, no second-guessing, nothing to complain about. The Semi-Auto trigger broke in beautifully around the 500-round mark and now it feels like an extension of my hand.
Almost flawless out of the box
Five-star gun with one annoying detail: the slide release sits in a spot where my thumb pre-rides it under recoil, occasionally locking the slide back early. Adjusting my grip is the fix, but it took me a session to figure out.
Grip texture is a touch aggressive
After a long range session I had a bit of a hot-spot on my middle knuckle from the front strap stippling. For carry it's actually a benefit - locks in your grip. For range days I might tape over one section. Otherwise top notch.
Good build, sights left me wanting more
I'm probably being picky. The sights work, they're durable, they're not blacked out. They're also not particularly fast to pick up. A small detail in an otherwise solid package - easy upgrade if it bothers you.
Took it on a 3-day hunting trip
Rain on day one, dust on day two, dropped it once getting out of the truck. Zero issues. Cleaned it back at camp in about ten minutes. this brand clearly tested this thing in the real world, not just on a range bench.
