Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm 5" Integrated Comp, Gear Pac Bundle, (4) Mags, Red Dot
The Prodigy Comp from Springfield Armory takes the proven 1911 platform and enhances it with double-stack capacity and a performance-driven feature set. Reconfigured around a double-stack magazine, the polymer grip module mounts to a forged steel frame, offering capacities of 17+1 and 20+1. The AOS-compatible slide and barrel assembly is integrally compensated to reduce muzzle rise, while a Picatinny rail is ready to accept today's most popular accessories. The Prodigy Comp combines the most beloved characteristics of the 1911 with modern capacity for unrivaled performance. The Gear Pac includes a Viridian RFX11 green dot optic, four magazines and a pistol bag.

Mag release is a little stiff
Otherwise this is a strong gun for the money. Reliability has been textbook, sights are good, frame fits my medium-glove hand well. Just wish the mag release didn't require quite as much thumb pressure for fast reloads.
Build feels older than its years
Reminds me of pistols built before everyone started cutting weight at every opportunity. Solid, balanced, not toy-like at all. Sights are steel, controls are positive, frame doesn't flex when you grip hard.
Range gun only
Wouldn't carry this - too many small things that don't feel quite right under stress. Mag release is mushy, sights aren't quick to pick up, the 5" barrel feels unbalanced. Fine for plinking on a Saturday.
Did the job, no fireworks
Not a gun I'm excited about, but one I trust. Cycles reliably, shoots straight, holds zero. The Semi-Auto mechanism is unremarkable in the best sense - does what it should, when it should, without drawing attention to itself.
It works, that's about it
Bought it on sale and got what I paid for. Cycles, shoots, doesn't fall apart. No personality though - feels like a tool, not a firearm I'm proud to own. Three stars feels honest.
