Quietly excellent
Not a flashy gun. No gimmicks, no marketing fluff. Just does what a 38 Special should do, every time you ask it to. After two years of chasing the "next big thing" this is what's earning a permanent spot in my safe.
I wanted to love it
Hyped this purchase for weeks based on reviews. In hand it's just OK. Not bad enough to return, not exciting enough to recommend. Maybe my expectations were too high. If you go in expecting solid mediocrity, you'll be satisfied.
Decent for a beginner
If this is your first 38 Special you'll probably be happy. If you've shot anything in the next tier up you'll feel the difference. Glad I have it for loaner duty at the range with new shooters - not what I reach for personally.
Grip texture is a touch aggressive
After a long range session I had a bit of a hot-spot on my middle knuckle from the front strap stippling. For carry it's actually a benefit - locks in your grip. For range days I might tape over one section. Otherwise top notch.
